digital SLR PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE (Beginner-Intermediate)

This course is designed to help you become more confident in the use of your digital SLR helping you realize more of its full potential. This course will show you how to capture high quality images with fine detail and accurate color (using a mixture of theory backed by practical exercises).

Learn at your own speed and explore photography subjects that really interest you (kids, portraits, landscapes, sports, etc). Our smaller groups encourage everyone to become more creative and confident!

  • Lesson 1 Introduction, Camera features, Settings and Menus, Storage, Transferring images, Focus Mode
  • Lesson 2 Exposure Modes, Apertures and Shutter speeds
  • Lesson 3 The Sensor, Sensor sensitivity(ISO),Resolution and Pixels, DOF
  • Lesson 4 File formats, Compression (jpeg,tiff,raw)
  • Lesson 5 Lighting and Flash, AE Bracketing, Exposure Compensation
  • Lesson 6 Recording colour digitally, White balance
  • Lesson 7 Digital Workflow and Image Manipulation, Printing
  • Lesson 8 Lenses,Final Project           

Winter 2012 - Calgary SOUTH

  • Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:30pm
  • From January 24 through March 20 (8 weeks, no class on February 21)  
  • Cost $262.50/person (GST+Course Booklet included)
  • Maximum of 12 participants (minimum of 6)
  • Location: North Glenmore Community Centre (2231 Longridge Drive SW, Calgary)

Winter 2012 - Calgary NORTH

  • Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:30pm
  • From January 25 through March 21 (8 weeks, no class on February 29)  
  • Cost $262.50/person (GST+Course Booklet included)
  • Maximum of 12 participants (minimum of 6)
  • Location: Thorncliffe Greenview Community Centre (5600 Centre Street NW Calgary)
